Sentence wheel

Auto-pause for shadowing

Playback pauses after each sentence, for a set number of seconds or a multiple of the sentence's length, so you have time to repeat it aloud.

Read

Every word takes you back to its original context and its original audio. Search your whole library by base form: look up "be" and you also get "is," "was," and "been," so you never miss a place you've met a word. Follow the connections for clues, as related words link to one another and weave into a web.

Tap to look up

Tap a word to look it up; select a passage to translate it, all without leaving the text.

Sentence masking

Hide the original to listen before you look; hide the translation to work it out before you compare.

Recall blanked-out words

New words, saved words, and words you often get wrong are blanked out: recall first, then reveal.

Auto-highlighting

Saved words are highlighted automatically in everything you read; choose from 230+ themes that are easy on the eyes.

Translate

Word-by-word glosses put a meaning right under each word, and full-text translation covers 50+ languages. Choose from translation engines such as Bing, Google, and DeepL. AI explanations from Claude, OpenAI, DeepSeek, and others come in 30+ fine-grained types, and you choose the language they're written in. Learning English? Have it explained in English, or in Japanese.

Ask AI

Ask about any sentence you didn't get; the answers draw on what you've already studied.

Preview before you read

Before you start a piece, AI flags the spots most likely to trip you up, based on the words you often get wrong.

Weekly report

A look back at what you studied this week and what still needs work, with next week's plan laid out for you.

Reading summary

When you finish a piece, get a summary report tailored to your level, drawing on the text, your saved words, and your study history.

Practice

You're reviewing more than a word. You're reviewing the sentence you met it in and the audio it came with. Every word keeps its own record: the sentence it came from and the other words you saved from the same sentence or passage, all shown together. Your retention curve is projected into the future, so you know ahead of time which day each word comes back.

In-context flashcards

Three types: fill-in-the-blank, spelling, and listening. Each card uses the original sentence and its audio, one tap away from the source text.

Spaced repetition

Rate each card Again, Hard, Good, or Easy and it's rescheduled on the spot. What you know well moves further out; what's slipping comes back sooner.

Study in batches

Newly saved words go to the Planner first. Pick a batch, set a start date, and decide for yourself how much to study each round.

Word trail

The day you met it, the day you saved it, the day you added it to a plan, and how many times you've reviewed it, all on one timeline.
